Tryouts for CASL Teams

All players participating in CASL tryouts should be pre-registered with the ELSC.

When: Tryouts for CASL generally occur sometime around or after June 15th. Please check the calendar page, or download the PDF of the current Tryout Schedule for current information on tryout dates for each gender and age group.

Where: The East Lansing Soccer Complex

Duration: Tryouts will take place over the course of two days. A player must attend both days. If the player is not available for tryouts during the designated time, the player's parent or guardian must contact the East Lansing Soccer Club and arrange an individual tryout subject to the evaluator's schedule.

Who is eligible to tryout: The ELSC hosts CASL teams for players age 9 (4th grade) through age 19. You must either be a resident of East Lansing or attend an East Lansing Public School to be eligible to play on an East Lansing team. Exceptions would be if you live in a community that is not fielding a team in your age group.

What to bring: The player should bring an age appropriate ball, water bottle, shin guards, cleats, and a positive attitude.

What criteria is evaluated: Players will be evaluated by a series of instructors. Skills such as ball movement, shooting and passing are evaluated by a series of drills. Attitude, speed, and on field confidence are also factors that could factor into the evaluation process.
