TO REGISTER FOR 2016-2017 (1st Grade and Older): ELSC 2016-2017 GENERAL REGISTRATION FORM

TO REGISTER FOR SPRING 2017 KINDERGARTEN: ELSC SPRING 2017 KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION FORM

2017 SPRING KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION

The Kindergraten program is for children enrolled in a Kindergarten school program in the Spring 2017. We do not accept 1st-graders nor pre-schoolers. Registration is for the the spring 2017 Kindergarten session only. Session size is limited to 60 children, divided over 4 classes. Once the classes are full the session will close enrollment and this regisration form will deactivate. Additional information is available on our flyer at Spring_17_Kindergarten_Soccer_Flyer.  Fee is $50 per child for the springl session, payable via the regisration process. We will confirm registrations one week before but sessions will be scheduled for Monday and Wedneday Spring 2017.

2016-2017 GENERAL REGISTRATION (1ST GRADE AND OLDER)

Base registration fee for all Recreational and Select (CASL) players, 1st-grade and older, regardless of program, is $100, due at the time of registration. All registrations are subject to a late fee after June 7. Players offered and accepting a roster spot on an ELSC CASL team will pay an additional $100 before August 1 (for a total of $200 for the year). Recreational players pay no additional fee. Uniform fees are not included in registration fees. Players who decline to accept a position after paid registration but before August 1 may receive a full refund of their registration fee. After August 1 we begin paying out fees for leagues, insurance, fields, referees, etc., and refunds are no longer possible. Registation is only open until June 28, 2016, subject to late fees. The Board of Directors may extend registration beyond that date to accomodate additional Recreational players.

Every parent and player must read and agree to the State of Michigan Concussion Awareness form: Concussion_form_MANDATORY.pdf. By completing your registration acknowledge that you have read and agreed to the information in the form, and that your player has as well. You must print off, sign and bring this form to your first practice.

All teams have age restrictions! Recreational teams are organized by grade in school for Fall 2016. Select/CASL teams are organized by birth date. These rules are set by the leagues we participate in and cannot be changed. PLEASE NOTE THAT BEGINNING IN FALL 2016, US SOCCER AND CASL TEAMS ARE BEING FORMED BY CALENDAR BIRTHYEAR (i.e. 1/1 - 12/31).  Previous school birthyear age cutoffs of August 1st will no longer determine which age group a player plays with for Select and higher-level soccer. All children born within the same calendar year will be considered the same age for team-formation purposes, regardless of grade-in-school. CASL players may play "up" 1-2 years with older kids, but may never play "down" with younger players. You may try out for more than one age group, but you will not be considered by any age group for which you are not evaluated. So, for example, if you are a U10 player, but only attend the U11 tryout, you will not be considered for the U10 team. IF YOU REGISTER A CHILD YOU MUST KNOW WHAT AGE GROUP/GRADE YOU ARE REGISTERING FOR. If you register a child for the wrong age your child may be removed from an age-inapprorpiate team.

Uniforms: players accepting a roser spot on an ELSC CASL must purchase an approved ELSC uniform from a club-approved vendor. After the teams are formed in July families will be provided with a uniform order form. Do not order a CASL uniform until provided with the official order form. Each recreational player must purchase a blue-white reversible mesh jersey for wear in games. Your coach can recommend a vendor after teams are formed. A full, new ELSC CASL uniform (two shirts, shorts, socks) may cost approximately $100; a Recreational jersey may cost approximately $15. Thse expenses are not included in registration fees and the ELSC makes no money from uniform sales.

PLAYER EVALUATIONS FOR THE 2016-2017 SEASON (JUNE 21-23, 2016)

This information is intended for families of soccer players headed into 3rd-grade this fall, 2016, and older kids up through 8th grade, and occationally older.  As many of you know, our club has two groups of teams: Recreational and Select. The Recreational teams are formed and play in the East Side Soccer League (ESSL), called "East Side," and the Select teams are formed and play in the Captial Area Soccer League (CASL), referred to "Castle." Rec is intended to be less-competitive and more fun-and-exercise based; Select is intended to offer a higher level of competitiveness and commitment.

Beginning in May 2016, through a link at the top of this page, the same general registration is open for all but Kindergarten (which has it's own form): everyone signs up and pays the same base $100 membership fee. If your child plays Rec soccer, you are all set for the fall and need do nothing more. We'll contact you in early August about practices and such.

If your child wants to play Select soccer, he or she must participate in Player Evaluations, and compete for one of the limited roster spots available. Our Club's Player Evaluations will be held on the week of June 20, 2016, at the EL Soccer Complex.

We hope to form teams for all ages and genders, from 1st grade through 8th grade and occasionally higher, but this really depends on how many players enroll at each age and level.

All 3rd-8th grade players who know they want to play on a Recreational team do not need to attend Player Evaluations, but are encouraged to as it is another time to have fun and touch the ball.  This is not like a traditional tryout.  The format is setup for everyone to mostly play small sided (4v4) games.  We are encouraging all of our players - even those with a passing or no interest in Select soccer (to be 3rd grade and older) to join us for the appropriate sessions. We'd like to use this as an event to build a sense of community for our Recreational and Select programs in our Club, and we're hoping to send every kid some positive reinforcement and feedback.

All 3rd-8th grade player desiring to be placed on a Select/CASL team, must attend Player Evaluations the 3rd week in June (6/21, 6/22, 6/23).  If you are planning to be out of town that week, and need to make alternative evaluation plans, this may be possible but cannot be guaranteed.  There will be two session for each group; attending both is encouraged but only one is necessary. CASL teams will be formed and finalized by July 2; Recreational teams will be formed and finalized by mid-August.

*** NEW THIS 2016-2017 - CASL has adopted the US Soccer Birth Year Policy changes impacting all clubs where, all players are placed on teams by calendar birth year (i.e. Jan. 1 - Dec. 31). Players may play one age level up (two levels with written permission and CASL approval), but may not play an age level down.  Here is a quick Under "U" age to birth year chart for the 2016-2017 season.

 U9 are players born 1/1/2008 - 12/31/2008
U10 are players born 1/1/2007 - 12/31/2007
U11 are players born 1/1/2006 - 12/31/2006
U12 are players born 1/1/2005 - 12/31/2005
U13 are players born 1/1/2004 - 12/31/2004
U14 are players born in 2003 or 2002 (Non-High School)

If your child wants to try out for more than one age group, you must be seen at both sessions. Select teams will be formed by July 3; everyone who comes to the Player Evaluations will be contacted with the outcome and some feedback. From that point the individual coaches will take over to get ready for the fall. Recreational teams will then be formed by mid-August.

PLAYER EVALUATION SCHEDULE

Parents/Players should plan to arrive 30 minutes before your scheduled start time. Players check in at the EL Soccer Complex pavilion and are loaned a numbered jersey that is to be returned to us that night. Bring a ball of your own, shin guards, and appropriate footwear, along with water to drink.

There are two Player Evaluation sessions for each age group. Your child need only attend one session, but we encourage you to come to both.
